I'd like to thank everyone who has supported the Silencers over the years and assure them that despite being a bit more 'silent' lately we're all in good form and trying to keep the group alive. Every time we play it gives us such a great burst of positive energy that is shared among the band AND the fans. We love it as much as you all do.

This year I'm trying to put out an album with my friends here in Rennes . Another 'labour of love' -a country blues project called The Honkytonk Hicks. James is in Berlin with his 'Martin and James' album ready to be released. Aura is getting used to being a mum which is the most important of them all. Cavan is beautiful.

It has never been more difficult to make albums as the music industry is in crisis and yet paradoxically music is more important than ever I feel. We  need you all and your continued support. Somehow we'll find a way to put another Silencers album together.

At the moment the gigs arrive when people who are interested contact our site. So word of mouth is very important. A lot of folk who organise festivals etc think the band dont exist anymore which is not the case.
Anyway all the best for this year and remember 'the only thing the blues is afraid of is the pipes'

 Jimme O'neil Interview
Added to the site on the 27th January 2010

The Silencers got together in the original line up with James on lead guitar last summer for gigs with the Simple Minds. At this time the idea was to record a new album with this line up and after speaking with Jimme he hopes this still goes ahead as they have got some great new songs. The project has been delayed a bit as Martin Hanlin left Glasgow for LA for family/business reasons.

However the band that were doing gigs as the Silencers and played at the ABC is still very much operational and its this band that does gigs in Europe etc. Jimme,  Aura, Steph Greer, Brian McFie and Tony Soave (or Baptiste in France if available ).

Jimme's sole intention is took keep it going for as long as he can. Jimme feels there is always so much feeling and emotion and history at Silencers concerts....AND lots of positive energy!! The songs are still alive thats the main thing.

Over in France Jimme has got lots of different musical formations going on.  Each project is very close to his heart and he thinks he may manage to keep the quality high. Solo -Jimme O'Neill -  Jimme and a double bass player - Jim & Titi -also with accordian and drummer Jim O'Neill et Les Balles D'Amour and also with hammond organ and jazzy/funky drums -BLOW.

Jimme is pretty busy as well as guesting occasionally with other bands like Red Cardell.  Jimme is recording stuff with Titi at the moment which will probably be an album. A mix of surprising covers and original songs.Jimme calls it Rock n Roots.
